You can participate in various activities on our sites
Birdwatching
Many of our sites provide a great opportunity to see a wide range of bird species. Some are important for birds at both a nationally and international level. There are birdwatching sites to suit both experts and beginners.
Fishing
We have excellent coarse and game fishing opportunities at some of our reservoirs. You can enjoy fantastic coarse and trout fishing at London's largest fishery on the Walthamstow Reservoirs, and some of the counties best quality fly-fishing at Oxfordshire's Farmoor Reservoir. You can also join one of many angling clubs using our sites.
Heritage
With a long history of providing drinking water and sanitation in London and the Thames Valley, we have many fascinating buildings, steam pumping engines and a wealth of industrial heritage for visitors to explore.
Nature reserves
Our sites hold a rich array of wildlife; many are managed as nature reserves, often in partnership with conservation groups. Our nature reserves range from nationally important grassland in the Cotswolds, an island in the tidal Thames, to the last remnants of London's grazing marshes at Crossness - one of the remaining strongholds for water voles in the country. From wetland habitat to managed grassland and sites of scientific special interest there is a wealth of nature to be observed at our nature reserves.
Sailing
The large, open expanses of water on our reservoirs provide excellent places to sail. Whether it's dinghy sailing or windsurfing, expert or beginner, the clubs using our sites offer great opportunities for everyone.
Recreation
From long-distance paths to local walks, in the peaceful countryside or through the inner city, we have several routes you can follow.
Other activities
From climbing walls to rifle shooting - our sites offer something for everyone.
